Henry John McNutt
     Henry John McNutt was born on 28 July 1844 at Rutland, Meigs County, Ohio.1 He was the son of Henry Armitage McNutt and Rowena C. Chase.1 Henry John McNutt married first Mary Jane Laypool on 13 April 1865 at Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.1 Henry John McNutt married second Durinda Ellen Stanley, daughter of Valentine Chapman Stanley and Rebecca Mary Mingus, on 5 November 1867 at Morgan County, Ohio.1 Henry John McNutt married third Cora E. Holland on 18 December 1905 at New Marshfield, Athens County, Ohio.1 Henry John McNutt died on 27 May 1915 at The Plains, Athens County, Ohio, at age 70.1 His obituary read, "Henry J. McNutt, born near Philadelphia, Pa., July 28, 1844, departed this life at his home at The Plains, May 27, 1915, age 70 years, 9 months and 29 days. He enlisted in the Civil War at the age of 17 years at Athens, Ohio, Sept. 24, 1861. He served faithfully for his country and was honorably discharged. He was a member of the G.A.R. and of Co. B 75th Regiment, Ohio Infantry. The deceased was married three times. His first wife was Mary Laypool. To this union one daughter was born, who survives. The mother preceded him to glory. The next marriage was to Durinda Worden. To this union was born twelve children, ten sons and two daughters. One son and his wife have gone on before. In 1905 he was again united in marriage to Cora Holland. She with the eleven children, one adopted daughter, sixty-five grand and great grandchildred, a sister, and a host of friends survive his loss. At the battle of Gettysburg, July 2, 1863, he was wounded and was a constant sufferer from this wound and others caused by exposure in the war until his death, which at the last was peaceful. He was converted thirty-six years ago and united with the Methodist Protestant Church, of which he was still a member. The wife and children testifying he has lived a devoted christian life. The wife loses a devoted companion, the children a loving father, the soldiers another comrade, and the community a good citizen. Our loss is his gain."2 He was buried at Beech Grove Church Cemetery, Monroe Township, Perry County, Ohio.1,3

Chase, on 5 November 1867 at Morgan County, Ohio.1 Durinda Ellen Stanley died on 31 July 1904 at Chauncey, Athens County, Ohio, at age 57.2,3 Her obituary read, "Durinda McNutt, wife of Henry John McNutt was
born in Morgan County, Ohio, September 5, 1846, and died July 31, 1904, she was married twice and was the mother of 16 children, fourteen of whom are still living. She was converted at the age of 7 in a children's meeting. At the age of 13 she joined the Disciples Church but in after years united with the Methodist Episcopal Church at Moxahala, Ohio, and remained a consistant member. Mrs. McNutt was a devoted companion, a kind and loving mother. Her greatest aim was to be faithful to her Christ and the closing scenes of her life evidenced that divinely approved Mother McNutt has ceased from her labors but her noble life will continue to exert an influence in the world. She
leaves besides a husband and 14 children many friends to mourn their loss. The writer conducted the funeral services in the Disciples Church, after which she was interred in the Connett cemetary."4 She was buried at Connett Cemetery, Connett, Athens County, Ohio.3

Tuttle and Sarah Lucy Mills, on 28 January 1897 at Morgan County, Ohio.1 William Charles McNutt died on 20 August 1950 at Magnolia, Stark County, Ohio, at age 78.1,2 His obituary read, "William Charles McNutt who died Sunday morning in his home on Rt 1, Magnolia, after an illness of two years. A native of Perry County, he had resided in this vicinity 25 years. He was 78. As a young man he was a coal miner and later was a farmer. He had been retired a number of years because of ill health. He was a member of Wesleyan Methodist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mary McNutt; seven daughters, Mrs. Frank Shaner of the residence, Mrs. Steve Stathus, Mrs. Joseph Blackburn and Mrs. RAy Shaner of RD 1, East Sparta, Mrs. William Cole of STeubenville, Mrs. Harry Ross of Chicago and Mrs. Russ Cameron of rural Magnolia; three sons, Clarence McNutt of Frederickstown, M. D. McNutt of San Francisco and Pearl McNutt of Canton; a step-son, Leonard Linn of Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. Desta Marshall of Woosterville, and Mrs. Ora Anderson of Glouster; five brothers, Francis of Glouster, Sherman of Malvern, Mack of East Sparta, John of Butler and Samuel McNutt of Sherrodsville; 23 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Services will be conducted in the McCreery-Kreighbaum funeral home on Cleveland Ave. SW Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. J.A. Hopkins in charge. Burial will be in the East Sparta Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Tuesday."4 He was buried at East Sparta Cemetery, East Sparta, Stark County, Ohio.1,2

Born Meigs County a Canton area resident for 44 years. Member of Weslyn Methodist Church, Woman's Missionary Sociiety. Preceeded in death by her husband, William and two sons. Surviving include six other daughters, Mrs. Frank (Lena) Shaner of Toledo; Mrs Steve (Gladys) Stathers and Mrs. Leah Blackburn of East Sparta, Mrs. Olive Cole of Steubenville, Mrs, Harry (Letha) Ross of Chicago, and Mrs. Ervin (Lucy) Cameron of Mafnolia; four sons, Leonard of Walnut Creek, Calif.      Vernon Newburn McNutt was born on 4 March 1901 at Elliott, Morgan County, Ohio.1,2 He was the son of William Charles McNutt and Mary Ann Tuttle.1 Vernon Newburn McNutt married Minerva Sheline, daughter of Benjamin Franklin Sheline and Lueticia Chapman.1 Vernon Newburn McNutt died on 25 January 1929 at Mercy Medical Center, Canton, Stark County, Ohio, at age 27.1,2 His obituary read, "Vernon McNutt, aged 48, of 1909 Ohio Ave NE, died Friday noon in Mercy hospital from pneumonia. He is survived by his widow, Minerva; two sons, Adrian and Clarence; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles McNutt; seven sisters, Mrs. Frank Shaner, of North Industry, Gladys, Olive, Leah, Leathy, Lichy and Pearl of North Industry, and Leonard of Oak Park, Ill.
The body will be taken to the home of his parents, on the East Sparta-North Industry Rd, Sunday morning. Services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock and burial will be made in the Bowman cemetery."3 He was buried at Bowman Cemetery, Pike Township, Stark County, Ohio.1,2
