     Rowena C. Chase was born on 5 July 1815 at Connecticut.2,3 She married Henry Armitage McNutt, son of James B. McNutt and Sarah "Sally" Armitage, on 7 April 1836 at Athens County, Ohio.1 Rowena C. Chase married Elijah Flory.1 Rowena C. Chase died on 3 February 1896 at the infirmary, Athens County, Ohio, at age 80. Her clothes caught fire about 1 a.m. from the grate at the infirmary. By the time she was found, she was so badly burned that she died 10 hours later. Her body was picked up by a Mr. Love and taken above Hartley Town for burial.1

     Roena Phebe McNutt was born on 1 January 1839 at Brush Valley, Indiana County, Ohio.2,3 She was the daughter of Henry Armitage McNutt and Rowena C. Chase.1 Roena Phebe McNutt married Michael Helman on 17 April 1856.1 Roena Phebe McNutt records for the Infirmary/Poor house put online by Julie North states that Phebe Helman was sent to the Infirmary by the Trustees of Trimble Township on Sep 19, 1868, age 28 years, birthplace Ohio, previous habits unknown, present condition pregnant. Also her daughter, Elizabeth, came to the infirmary without legal authority whose age is 6 years. Received by order of Directors. Jack Sanders, Supt. Delivered of female child Dec 11, 1868. Discharged by order May 20, 1869. In the records further it states that Roena Helman, Mina and G. W. was admitted in the Infirmary Dec 24th, 1880 by order of the Trustees of York Township, ages 40, 8, and 2 years, having a legal settlement on said township of York, birthplace not given, present condition, sick and destitute. A. Martin Supt. Dishcarged Feb 25, 1881. Returned Apr 17, 1882. G. W. sent to childrens home July 6, 1882. Children's Home registry has the following entry: #87 Hellman, Willhellminia, b 10 Dec 1868 Nelsonville, Athens, Ohio, father Robinson, John T., mother Hellman, Roena, nationality African. Child surrendered York Township indentured to Mrs. Clint Posten Oct 12, 1882. The 1870 census records has her listed as white. We know that her mother is white and her father is unknown at this time.1 She died on 29 March 1905 at age 66. She was buried at Ebenezer Methodist Church Cemetery, Green Township, Hocking County, Ohio.4
