     Alfred P. Rose was born on 24 July 1837 at Harrisville, Butler County, Pennsylvania.¹ He was the son of John Rose and Mary "Polly" Clark.¹ Alfred P. Rose married Eva Rose Carroll, daughter of William Alcorn Carroll and Harriett Silliman, on 5 September 1876 at Mercer County, Pennsylvania.¹ Alfred P. Rose died on 21 April 1913 at Washington at age 75.¹

     Eva Rose Carroll was born on 16 October 1852 at Pennsylvania.² She was the daughter of William Alcorn Carroll and Harriett Silliman.¹ Eva Rose Carroll married Alfred P. Rose, son of John Rose and Mary "Polly" Clark, on 5 September 1876 at Mercer County, Pennsylvania.³ Eva Rose Carroll died on 21 June 1930 at Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania, at age 77.²

     Edwin Carroll Rose was born on 2 July 1877 at Pennsylvania.¹ He was the son of Alfred P. Rose and Eva Rose Carroll.¹ Edwin Carroll Rose died on 21 May 1929 at Medical Lake, Spokane County, Washington, at age 51.¹

     Ephraim Lamont Rose was born in 1843 at Pennsylvania.¹ He was the son of John Rose and Mary "Polly" Clark.¹ By late summer of 1862, with the Union's disastrous defeat at Bull Run, reinforcements were sorely needed. On 11 August 1862, E. Lamont Rose had joined other citizen volunteers from Mercer County, Pennsylvania, to form Company A, 139th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry. It was immediately ordered to the front, departing on the evening of September 1st, receiving arms at Harrisburg on the 2d, and arriving at Washington on the 3d. The dead in the battle of Bull Run were still unburied, and this regiment was sent to the field under flag of truce to perform the mournful duty of consigning them to the earth. For three days it was incessantly employed. Several days had now elapsed since the dead had fallen, the battle having commenced on the 27th of August, and the corpses exposed to a summer sun were in a loathsome condition. Very few of the rebel dead had been left unburied, but the Union soldiers lay as they fell, scattered over all the field in every conceivable position. Many had been robbed of hats, coats, and shoes, and in many instances stripped entirely naked. One thousand seven hundred and ninety-nine Union soldiers were committed to graves, the best, in view of their condition, that could be given them. This duty ended, the regiment hastened forward after the army, coming up with it on the 17th of September, the day of the battle of Antietam, and was at once put in line but did not become engaged. On the following day, the enemy having retreated, the 139th was pushed forward to the Potomac, participating in a skirmish near Williamsport. E. Lamont Rose was mustered out with his company on 21 June 1865. He died in 1879 from disease contracted while a soldier in the Civil War.¹ Ephraim Lamont Rose married Mary E. Heasley on 2 October 1867.¹ Ephraim Lamont Rose died on 27 May 1879 at Mercer, Mercer County, Pennsylvania.¹

     Mary E. Heasley was born on 21 February 1848 at Pennsylvania.² She married Ephraim Lamont Rose, son of John Rose and Mary "Polly" Clark, on 2 October 1867.¹ Mary E. Heasley died on 2 June 1871 at age 23.¹

     Nancy Jane Carter was born on 30 January 1866 at Ray County, Missouri.¹ She was the daughter of George W. Carter and Mary Anna Mullin.¹ Nancy Jane Carter married Aaron Buck Teegarden, son of Aaron Teegarden Sr. and Nancy Cummins, on 5 October 1884 at Ray County, Missouri.² Nancy Jane Carter died on 21 May 1950 at Rayville, Ray County, Missouri, at age 84.³ She was buried at Teegarden Cemetery, Knoxville Township, Ray County, Missouri.⁴
