     Dennis Springer was born on 23 June 1748 at Winchester, Frederick County, Virginia.^1,2,3 He was the son of Dennis Springer and Ann Prickett.¹ In 1772 he was living in Tyrone Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He owned extensive tracts of land in and near Uniontown, Pennsylvania, but he lost a part of it when a debtor whose note he had signed, defaulted. He was the contractor who erected the first brick courthouse in Fayette County in 1795 for a total cost of $1362.53. He served two terms as county treasurer.¹ Dennis Springer married Maria Elizabeth Small in 1774.^1,2 From 1778 to 1783 he served as a lieutenant in Capt. Thomas Carr's company of Col. Thomas Gaddis' Rangers on the Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania frontier.⁴ Dennis Springer died on 6 April 1823 at the home of his son John, Uniontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, at age 74.^1,2,3 He was buried at Great Bethel Baptist Cemetery, Uniontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.¹
