James C. Bailey

M, b. 18 October 1837, d. November 1864
     James C. Bailey was born on 18 October 1837 at Stewart Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of William Bailey and Mahala Wilson.1 James C. Bailey was a private in Company K, 85th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry during the Civil War. He was captured by the Rebels and taken to Andersonville prison and later to Libby prison. After being in prison nine months his brother David went to Libby with the hope of taking his place and letting James come home but when he arrived he found his brother had been exchanged but died the next day from starvation.2 He married Sarah Kern, daughter of Joshua Kern and Susan Marietta, in 1858 at Fayette County, Pennsylvania.3 James C. Bailey died in November 1864 at Hilton Head, Beaufort County, South Carolina, at age 27. He was buried at Normalville Cemetery, Springfield Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.4

John Bailey

M, b. 1778, d. 16 October 1827
     John Bailey was born in 1778 at Bethel, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of John Bailey and Mary Curry. John Bailey was of Irish parentage.2 He married Veronica "Fanny" Sipe, daughter of Johann Peter Sipe and Barbara Troyer, in 1810 at Somerset County, Pennsylvania.3 John Bailey removed from Bedford County about 1814 when William was but two years of age and settled in Springfield township (Saltlick at that time), Fayette County, Pennsylvania before June 1814.2 He died on 16 October 1827 at Springfield Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.1 He was buried at Mill Run Baptist Cemetery (now Indian Creek Baptist Cemetery), Springfield Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.4

Veronica "Fanny" Sipe was of German descent.3 She married John Bailey, son of John Bailey and Mary Curry, in 1810 at Somerset County, Pennsylvania.4 Veronica "Fanny" Sipe died on 27 April 1856 at Fayette County, Pennsylvania.5 She was buried at Mill Run Baptist Cemetery (now Indian Creek Baptist Cemetery), Springfield Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.6

Imel, daughter of Henry Imel Sr. and Margaret Clonniger Disher, in 1802 at Belfast, Bedford County, Pennsylvania.1 William John Bailey died on 13 April 1860 at Gasper Township, Preble County, Ohio, at age 84.
