     Samuel Wesley VanZandt was born on 2 January 1862 at the log house on the hill above Crooked Run, 2-1/2 miles up the Monongahela river from Point Marion at Rosedale, Dunkard Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania.1,2 He was the son of Morris Noble VanZandt and Lucy Ann Everly.3 Samuel Wesley VanZandt married Ella Wise circa 1887.4,2 Samuel Wesley VanZandt farmed in Dunkard township, Greene county, but after the death of his wife, he left the farm and engaged in various business ventures. For several years he worked in a restaurant in Connellsville, Pennsylvania.2 He died on 28 October 1945 at Youngstown, Mahoning County, Ohio, at age 83.2 His obituary read, "Samuel W. VanZandt, aged 83, former local man, died in Youngstown, Ohio, Sunday evening, October 28, 1945 at 6 o'clock. He is survived by two brothers, Will VanZandt of Marshall, Mich., and I. N. VanZandt of Point Marion. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Conn Funeral Home with Rev. Fred B. Grimm officiating. Burial followed in Wolfe cemetery. He was buried at Wolfe Cemetery, Dunkard Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania.

Isaac Milroy VanZandt
     Isaac Milroy VanZandt was born on 31 March 1863 at the log house on the hill above Crooked Run, 2-1/2 miles up the Monongahela river from Point Marion at Rosedale, Dunkard Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania.1,2,3 He was the son of Morris Noble VanZandt and Lucy Ann Everly.4 Isaac Milroy VanZandt moved to Cloud County, Kansas in 1884.2 He married Cordelia Duff, daughter of John Alfred Duff and Mary Jane Plourde, on 8 June 1890 at Concordia, Cloud County, Kansas.2 Isaac Milroy VanZandt returned to Greene county with his bride where he worked as a carpenter. Upon moving across the river into Point Marion, he opened a lunch wagon. About 1914 he opened a restaurant which he operated until his retirement in 1935. In 1918, in partnership with his son, he opened the Point Marion Transfer Company which contracted for road construction as well as for ordinary moving jobs.2 He died on 12 August 1949 at Point Marion, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, at age 86.4,3 He was buried at Evergreen Memorial Park, Springhill Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.3

Simeon O. Everly

M, b. 15 October 1763, d. 17 March 1843
     Simeon O. Everly was born on 15 October 1763 at Cumberland County, Maryland. He was the son of Casper Everly and Sarah Hale. Simeon O. Everly began military service on 10 July 1777 for the Revolutionary War by describing himself as an Indian Scout. In his pension application, he states that his service lasted 9 months in this campaign. He married Prudence Howard, daughter of Rezin R. Howard and Esther Hamilton, circa 1794 at Virginia. Simeon O. Everly served as Justice of the peace in Monongalia County, Virginia. He was appointed by the Governor upon recommendation by the County Court. At this time this office was considered a very high honor to bestow upon someone. He started receiving his war pension on 20 April 1834. He died on 17 March 1843 at Cass District, Monogalia County, West Virginia, at age 79. He was buried at Everly Cemetery, Monongalia County, Virginia (now West Virginia). The gravestone inscription reads "In memory of Simeon Everley who died March 17, 1843, aged 82 years old".
