Simeon Oliver Everley1

M, b. 6 May 1846, d. 2 September 1912
Simeon Oliver Everley was born on 6 May 1846 at near Morgantown, Monongalia County, Virginia.2 He was the son of Reason Howard Everly and Lieurena Morris.1 Simeon Oliver Everley married Martha Anna Haldeman, daughter of Thomas Abraham Haldeman and Maria Louisa Baldwin, on 25 December 1872.1 Simeon Oliver Everley died on 2 September 1912 at Glasco, Cloud County, Kansas, at age 66.2 His obituary read, "Death of S. O. Everley. Simeon Oliver Everley was born near Morgantown, West Va., May 6, 1846, and died at the family residence in Glasco, Kans., September 2, 1912, aged 66 years, 3 months and 27 days. He had been ill 3 years and 9 months. On Christmas day 1872 he was joined in marriage to Martha Ann Halderman. To this union were born six sons and six daughters, all of whom are living and were present with the wife and mother at his bedside when his spirit took its flight. Mr. Everley was a student in the Morgantown State University and after two years was prevented by sickness from completing the course. He taught school, and later went to the coal fields of Pennsylvania and earned the means to come to Cloud county, Kansas, in 1874. He was a member of the militia in his home state and did duty in guarding bridges and other property as he was ordered. The deceased was twice elected to represent Cloud county in the state legislature and has filled other responsible positions with honor and fidelity. He united with the Methodist Episcopal church at about twenty-one years of age, was a licensed preacher of the same, and among his happiest days were those in which he worked with his hands on laying the walls of the Bethel church. He was of a family of eleven children, four of whom preceded him over the river. While he had been an invalid for the past four years, his last severe illness was of four weeks duration, during which time he suffered extremely, excepting the last two days. The end came peacefully, and he fell asleep, and was gathered unto his fathers. 'Only a little while Of walking with weary feet, Patiently over the thorny way That leads to the golden street. Suffer, if God shall will, And work for Him While we may; From Calvary's cross to Zion's crown Is only a little way. Only a little while,
For toiling a few short days, And then comes the rest, the quiet rest. Eternity's endless praise."2 He was buried at Bethel Cemetery, Meredith Township, Cloud County, Kansas.2

Simeon Elliot Everly1

M, b. 13 November 1849, d. 20 October 1935
Simeon Elliot Everly was born on 13 November 1849 at Virginia.2 He was the son of Reason Howard Everly and Lieurena Morris.1 Simeon Elliot Everly married Josephine McClarnan, daughter of Joseph P. McClarnan and Mary Jane Hall, circa 1874.3 Simeon Elliot Everly died on 20 October 1935 at Vandalia, Audrain County, Missouri, at age 85.2 His obituary read, "SIMON E. EVERLY DIED SATURDAY MORNING. – Funeral Services Conducted From the Home Sunday Afternoon by Rev. T. J. Smith. – Simeon E. Everly, an aged and highly respected citizen of this community died at his home three miles west of Vandalia early Saturday morning after an illness which has extended over a period of about two months. He was known to be in a serious condition for the past month and his death was expected. Mr. Everly was a native of West Virginia and later moved to Illinois from whence he came to Missouri about thirty years ago where he purchased the home on which he has since lived. He was united in marriage in 1874 to Miss Josephine McLarnan, to which union five children were born. Two of whom survive. He has been one of the painstaking and methodical farmers and has shown excellent results on his farm which he has kept in a high state of cultivation. His farm and improvements showed the best of care and attention until his health failed some two years ago since which time he has been practically helpless and blind. He has been the constant care of his daughter Miss Bertha. He was a man of high honor and dealt with all on the same basis. His time was well spent on his farm and never at any time did he neglect his home. He was a man who thought much of his fireside and was constant and considerate of his loved ones. Preceding him some two years ago his wife departed this life. His three sons, Clarence, Lonnie and William likewise departed this life some few years ago. Lonnie it will be remembered was found dead on the highway near the home a few years previous and no trace of how he ever met his death was ever revealed. He is survived in his family at the present time by his daughter, Miss Bertha who has been constant in her attention and devotion to her father in his declining years and his son Harold Everly of Columbus, Ohio.
His funeral was conducted from the home, Sunday afternoon by Rev. T. J. Smith of the Baptist Church and interment was made in the Vandalia Cemetery beside his wife and three sons. We join with the friends of the family in extending our sympathy in their hour of sorrow."2 He was buried at Vandalia Cemetery, Cuivre Township, Audrain County, Missouri.2

Reppert and Artalissa Shroyer, on 21 September 1881.1 Isaac Alonzo Everly died on 29 April 1922 at Emporia, Kansas, at age 68.2 His obituary read, "Isaac Alonzo Everley was born in Monongalia County, West Va., Jan. 12, 1854. He departed this life at his home in Emporia, Kansas, April 29, 1922, aged 68 years, three months and 17 days. He was united in marriage to Sarah M. Reppert, September 21, 1881. Everley was a member of a family consisting of seven brothers – Simon of Vaudalia, Mo., Allen of Dilliner, West Va; and Marion of Delphos, Kansas, who now survive him. Albert, Coil, and Oliver passed away several years ago. There were also four sisters – Eliza, Malinda and Hulda who are departed, and Mrs. B.G. Conn of Point Marion, Pa. Marion Evans Everley1

M, b. 4 September 1855, d. 7 April 1929
Marion Evans Everley was born on 4 September 1854 at Virginia.1 He was born on 4 September 1855 at Monongalia County, Virginia.2,3 He was the son of Reason Howard Everly and Lieurena Morris.4 Marion Evans Everley married Rosa Lee John, daughter of James Franklin John and Malinda Pickenpaugh, on 30 August 1874.5 Marion Evans Everley died on 7 April 1929 at Delphos, Ottawa County, Kansas, at age 73.5 His obituary read, "M. E. EVERLEY. – Marion Evans Everley, son of Reason Howard Everley and Lieurena Morris Everley, was born September 4, 1855 near Rosedale, West Virginia and departed this life April 7, 1929 at Delphos, Kansas. He was the youngest of eleven children, all of whom, except two, have preceded him to the Great Beyond. He was united in marriage to Rosa Lee John, August 30, 1874 to which union five children were born: Allen, Millard, Floy, Ray and Frank. With his wife and son Allen he came to Kansas in March 1876 and settled near Bethel where he lived for almost fourteen years. He then moved near Delphos and has ever since resided in the vicinity. At an early age he united with the Methodist Episcopal church and his life has been spent in the upbuilding of same. For more than fifty years, he was musical director in the churches of which he was a member. There is probably no man in this vicinity who has been more often called and more willingly responded in time of sickness and bereavement than he. He lived a true sacrificial, consistent, christain life and his friends are numbers only by his acquaintances. He was generous to a fault and assistance was never denied. Our community has lost a pioneer, a good neighbor, a true friend, a loving husband and father. What more can a man be? Funeral services for Mr. Everley were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church with Rev. Vielguth in charge and burial was made in the Bethel cemetery."5 He was buried at Bethel Cemetery, Meredith Township, Cloud County, Kansas.5
