They moved to Vancouver during WWII and Noel worked at the Vancouver Shipyards and Evelyn was a homemaker. In 1953 they moved to Camas. She enjoyed quilting and sewing, hunting and fishing, and gardening and rock hounding. She is survived by her daughter June Britton of Portland; 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 21, at 11 am at the Fern Prairie Cemetery. He was 92. West was born Jan. 6, 1912, in Pryor Creek, Okla., to Lina L. (Salts) and William D. West. He grew up in Oklahoma and joined the marines when he was 17. He served for four years on active duty, and then four years in the reserves. He moved around following work during the Depression. He was a deputy sheriff in Idaho for a time. West married Evelyn E. Grover in Payette, Idaho, in 1939. They moved to the Vancouver area, where he worked for the shipyards during World War II. They relocated to Camas and West worked for the Crown Zellerbach for more than 25 years. He enjoyed rock hounding, hunting, fishing camping, and picking mushrooms and berries. West was preceded in death by three sisters, seven brothers, and his son, Clayton D. West. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, at home; one daughter, Evelyn June Britton of Portland, Ore; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held today, at the Fern Prairie Cemetery in Camas. Straub's Funeral Home in Camas was in charge of arrangements."2 He was buried at Fern Prairie Cemetery, Fern Prairie, Clark County, Washington.2
