Age 68. Died 1/3/1982 (Sunday) at his home in Cross Plains. Services were held 1/5 (Tuesday) at 2 p.m. in the First Methodist Church. Burial was in the Cross Plains Cemetery. Rev. Bill Reed officiated. Higginbotham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. He was born 4/14/1913 and spent his early years in Thorndale. He served Cross Plains for 30 years and was the only doctor there. Survivors: Daughter, Katherine Davies of Houston, a son, Carl John Sohns Jr. of Cross Plains; mother, Mrs Louise Sohns of Houston; 2 sisters, Irene Tiemann of Houston and Adelle Mabry of Hempstead; also several nieces."4 He was buried at Cross Plains Cemetery, Cross Plains, Callahan County, Texas.5
