     Elizabeth Almeda Harper was born on 26 December 1840 at Virginia.¹ She was supposedly the first white child born in the Harper District. She died on 18 August 1879 at West Virginia at age 38.¹

     Christopher Springer was born in 1592 at electorate of Hanover, Germany.¹ He studied jurisprudence at Wisschaften and afterwards settled in Wisnar.¹ He married Alma Dorothy Jacobie in 1645.¹ Within a year of the Treaty of Westphalia (1648) which transferred Wisnar to Sweden, he moved to Berlin.¹ Christopher Springer married Henrietta Stulranrauch.¹ The Springers of Sweden, from whom the Springers of Delaware, from whom the Springers of Connellsville, Pennsylvania, descend, were descendants of the ancient Germans known as Franks, who appeared on the Lower Rhine about the middle of the third century. The name originated with Louis II., Count of Thuringia, who was imprisoned by his Emperor in the strong castle of Giebichenstein, from which he made his escape by an adventurous leap from the tall battlements of the castle into the water beneath. When the manner of his escape was explained to the Emperor he pardoned him and in sport gave him the surname of "The Springer," which he always retained. His son, Christopher Louis, was knighted by Emperor Henry in 1092, when a year old, as Count Springer, and from him the line traces to Christopher Springer, born in Hanover, Germany, 1592. At the end of the thirty years' war which devastated Germany, France and Sweden demanded indemnity from Germany for the assistance they had given. Part of the territory obtained by Sweden was the city of Weimar, of which Christopher Springer was a resident. He thereby became a subject of the Queen of Sweden. In 1649 he moved from Weimar to Berlin and from there to Stockholm, Sweden, where he held a high position under the Swedish crown. He owned two valuable country seats, property in Stockholm, and nine taxable farms in Westergolland. The most of the family, consisting of his brothers, soon followed him to Sweden, where descendants yet are found.² Moving to Sweden, Christopher became notary on the Board of Domains under Queen Christina. With the ascension of Charles X to the throne, he became referendary and served until 1665. He was later appointed superintendent of the exchequer and archives. He owned two estates, Whye and Nybba, and a farm in Westergotland.¹ Christopher Springer married Lady Beata Jacobine Hendrickson in 1654 at Stockholm, Sweden.^1,3 Christopher Springer died in 1669 at Stockholm, Sweden.^1,4

     Lady Beata Jacobine Hendrickson was the companion to Hedwig Elenora, Queen of Sweden, queen to Charles X.¹ She married Christopher Springer in 1654 at Stockholm, Sweden.^1,2

     Benjamin Springer was born in 1706.¹ He was the son of Jacob Springer and Phoebe Hiobe.¹

     John Springer was born in 1708.¹ He was the son of Jacob Springer and Phoebe Hiobe.¹ John Springer married Elizabeth Bosworth in 1733.¹

     Amos Springer was born in 1718.¹ He was the son of Jacob Springer and Phoebe Hiobe.¹

     Clarence Carl McMullen was born on 14 December 1883 at Spencer, Roane County, West Virginia.¹ He was the son of Edward McMullen and Mary Alice Hunt.¹ Clarence Carl McMullen married Ethie May Shatto, daughter of Albert William Shatto and Ethie May Kingsbury, in June 1925 at Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.¹ Clarence Carl McMullen died on 4 September 1955 at Lake Worth, Palm Beach County, Florida, at age 71.¹

     Sallie M. McMullen was born on 13 January 1886 at Spencer, Roane County, West Virginia.¹ She was the daughter of Edward McMullen and Mary Alice Hunt.¹ Sallie M. McMullen died on 16 March 1901 at Spencer, Roane County, West Virginia, at age 15.¹ She was buried at Spencer Memorial Cemetery, Spencer, Roane County, West Virginia.²

     Benjamin Harrison McMullen was born on 7 July 1888 at Spencer, Roane County, West Virginia.¹ He was the son of Edward McMullen and Mary Alice Hunt.¹ Benjamin Harrison McMullen married Bessie Mae Thompson, daughter of John Thompson and Mary Frances Goldwood, on 22 October 1920 at Cuyahoga Falls, Summit County, Ohio.¹ Benjamin Harrison McMullen worked as a printing pressman and retired to North Port Charlotte, Florida in 1960.¹ He died on 17 May 1964 at North Port Charlotte, Sarasota County, Florida, at age 75.¹ He was buried at Fort Myers Cemetery, Fort Myers, Lee County, Florida.¹

     Mazel Mae McMullen was born on 16 August 1890 at Roane County, West Virginia.¹ She was the daughter of Edward McMullen and Mary Alice Hunt.¹ Mazel Mae McMullen married Peter Belbon, son of Spaero Belbon and Deen Mellen, on 31 August 1912 at Summit County, Ohio.² Mazel Mae McMullen died on 26 July 1967 at Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, at age 76.¹ She was buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.³

     Ruth McMullen was born on 11 September 1892 at Spencer, Roane County, West Virginia.¹ She was the daughter of Edward McMullen and Mary Alice Hunt.¹ Ruth McMullen married Leo R. Minor, son of James M. Minor and Ellen McAnelly, on 16 June 1912 at Summit County, Ohio.² Ruth McMullen died in May 1977 at Akron, Summit County, Ohio, at age 84.¹

     Oral Edward McMullen was born on 26 August 1899 at Spencer, Roane County, West Virginia.¹ He was the son of Edward McMullen and Mary Alice Hunt.¹ Oral Edward McMullen married Veronica Rowan, daughter of Patrick Rowan and Mary Elizabeth Cunniff, on 28 March 1936 at Brooklyn, Kings County, New York.¹ Oral Edward McMullen retired from the U.S. Navy after a lengthy service.¹ He died in December 1977 at St. Cloud, Osceola County, Florida, at age 78.¹

     Norene H. McMullen was born on 4 April 1906 at Spencer, Roane County, West Virginia.¹ She was the daughter of Edward McMullen and Mary Alice Hunt.¹ Norene H. McMullen died in 1924 at Cuyahoga Falls, Summit County, Ohio, of typhoid fever.¹

     Ethie May Shatto was born on 1 June 1901 at Willow, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.¹ She was the daughter of Albert William Shatto and Ethie May Kingsbury.¹ Ethie May Shatto married Clarence Carl McMullen, son of Edward McMullen and Mary Alice Hunt, in June 1925 at Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.¹ Ethie May Shatto died on 28 December 1991 at Lake Worth, Palm Beach County, Florida, at age 90.¹

     Albert E. McMullen was born in 1927 at Cuyahoga Heights, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.¹ He was the son of Clarence Carl McMullen and Ethie May Shatto.¹ Albert E. McMullen died in 1932 at Cuyahoga Heights, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.¹

     Bessie Mae Thompson was born on 2 November 1899 at Cuyahoga Falls, Summit County, Ohio.¹ She was the daughter of John Thompson and Mary Frances Goldwood.¹ Bessie Mae Thompson married Benjamin Harrison McMullen, son of Edward McMullen and Mary Alice Hunt, on 22 October 1920 at Cuyahoga Falls, Summit County, Ohio.¹ Bessie Mae Thompson died on 17 December 2000 at Tallmadge, Summit County, Ohio, at age 101.¹ She was buried at Fort Myers Cemetery, Fort Myers, Lee County, Florida. Her obituary read, "Bessie McMullen, 101, of Tallmadge, passed away Sunday, Dec. 17, 2000 at Essex Healthcare of Tallmadge. Born in Cuyahoga Falls to the late John and Mary (Goldwood) Thompson, Bessie had spent a portion of her life in Fort Myers, Fla., at which time she had been a member of the First Baptist Church in North Point, Fla. Bessie was preceded in death by her husband, Ben McMullen, on May 17, 1965, and by daughter, Mary Alice Rowland, on Aug. 7, 1970. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Christine McMullen of Mogadore, and Theadore P. and Hilde McMullen of Applegate, Calif; nine grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. There will be no calling hours or services in Ohio for Bessie. Interment will take place at Ft. Myers Cemetery. (Newcomer-Farley, 330-784-3334.)

     Mary Frances Goldwood was born on 24 September 1872 at Ohio.² She died on 18 June 1955 at Ohio at age 82.²
