Mary Emmaline Tobias1

F, b. 7 December 1845, d. 28 September 1923
Mary Emmaline Tobias was born on 7 December 1845 at Addison, Steuben County, New York.1 She was the daughter of Asa Hunter Tobias and Hannah B. French.1 Mary Emmaline Tobias married Albert Henry Palmer, son of Robert Ralph Palmer and Eliza Melvina Boardman, on 11 October 1869.1,2 Mary Emmaline Tobias died on 28 September 1923 at her home, 334 West Walnut Street, Titusville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania, at age 77.1,3 Her obituary read, "Mrs. Mary E. Palmer, a resident of Titusville for sixty-seven years, passed away at her home, 334 West Walnut street, at 5:40 a. m. yesterday, aged nearly 83 years. While she had been failing in strength for several years, she had been confined to her bed most of the time since early in May, the end having been anticipated for some time. Services in her memory will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. from the First Methodist Episcopal church, the retiring pastor, Rev. H. H. Barr, officiating, and the interment will be made in the family plot in Woodlawn. Mrs Palmer was the daughter of the late Asa H. Tobias and was born at Addison, N.Y. on Dec. 7, 1845. Her mother died when she was 13 years of age and three years later she joined her father in Titusville and this city had been her home ever since. For many years she was an active worker in the First M. E. church and she regretted very much her inability to participate in the Erie conference held in that church last week. She was also a member of the W.C.T.U. and always interested in everything tending to the betterment of the community. On October 11, 1869, she was united in marriage with Albert H. Palmer, who died in February, 1898. To them were born four children, Miss F. Edith Palmer, principal of the Union street school, and Miss Lida M. Palmer, state nurse for this district, surviving. A daughter, Clara, died in infancy. and Charles D. Palmer died in Porto Rico on Thanksgiving day, 1898, from typhoid fever contracted while in U.S. service in the Spanish-American war."1 She was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Titusville, Crawford County, Pennsylvania; Sec C, Lot 5, Tier 8.1
