To distinguish them the family called the first Polly and the second one Mary. The two wives were first cousins.1 He became Harriet McNees's adoptive father.1 Thomas Taylor McNees died on 6 March 1897 at Bellaire, Belmont County, Ohio, at age 88.1 He was buried at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Centerville, Belmont County, Ohio.1

Her real mother is unknown and her real father was a McConnell. On doctor's orders Mary and John were looking for a baby to adopt if they lost another at birth. John made arrangements with McConnell and after losing another they got Laura. The doctor said that Mary's trouble was all nerves and if she had a baby to breast feed and be interested in she would not lose her own.1 John Munson McNees died on 4 September 1911 at Brady Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, at age 78.1 He was buried at Plain Grove Presbyterian Cemetery, Plain Grove, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.1

     David Lowry McNees was born on 22 February 1839 at Worth Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania.1 He was named for his great uncle David Armstrong and for a Reverend Lowry who preached at Plain Grove Presbyterian Church.2 He was the son of William McNees and Elizabeth Armstrong.1 David Lowry McNees Civil War service in Co. H, 78th Regiment, PA.1 He died on 21 August 1864 at age 25. When supplies were cut off by the enemy, he with others ate the corn for the mules. That started dysentery from which he died.1 He was buried at Plain Grove Presbyterian Cemetery, Plain Grove, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.1

He married Olive Almeda Rose, daughter of John Heck Rose and Anna Louise Mitchell, on 15 October 1907 at Elm Grove, Ohio County, West Virginia. The newspaper announcement stated, "Cards have been received in New Brighton, announcing the marriage at Elm Grove, W.Va., on Tuesday evening of this week, of Miss Olive M. Rose and Dr. Z. S. McNees. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John H. Rose, until recently residents of New Brighton."2,5 Zephaniah Snyder McNees and his family moved to Buckey, Maricopa County, Arizona when Olive developed tuberculosus. Her real mother is unknown and her real father was a McConnell. On doctor's orders Mary and John were looking for a baby to adopt if they lost another at birth. John made arrangements with McConnell and after losing another they got Laura. The doctor said that Mary's trouble was all nerves and if she had a baby to breast feed and be interested in she would not lose her own.1 She married Alvin Curtis Snyder, son of Conrad Snyder and Nancy McCandless, on 21 February 1878 at Brady Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania.1 Laura May McNees died on 25 August 1928 at Brady Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, at age 67.1 She was buried at Muddy Creek Presbyterian Cemetery, Clay Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania.1
