She was born November 21, 1932, in Youngstown, daughter of Margaret Shaffer Lamb and William Lamb. She graduated from North Lima High School, (South Range) and attended Youngstown State University, where she studied portrait painting under Clyde Singer and earned a degree in Art Education. She was an Art teacher at Crestview High School for many years before retiring to pursue her art full time. Over the last 50 years she has produced hundreds of paintings, sculptures and various forms of art which have been shown and sold throughout the United States. She has more than 500 works in public and private collections. She has received more than 30 awards for her artwork from such organizations as The John Young Arts Festival, Jewish Community Center and the Butler Institute of American Art.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Coulter whom she married in 1952, her son Scott R. Coulter, a daughter-in-law, Kim Coulter, a grandson, Darian S. Coulter, a sister, Margaret (Margie) Wolfgang and a nephew, Mark Wolfgang. She is survived by her son Rev. Dr. Terry L. Coulter and his wife Martha of Columbiana, her son Jay A. Coulter of Salem and five grandchildren, Mrs. Megan Kimble, of Phoenix, AZ, Capt. Ty Coulter, of Eglin AFB, FL, Mrs. Emily Estok of Nashville, TN, Mr. Brian Coulter of Nashville, TN, and Miss Elyse Coulter of Columbus, OH. She also leaves behind a sister Jaci Lindquist, brother in law, Bob Wolfgang, niece Linda McKee and a great niece Erica Johnson, all from Katy, Texas. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home in Columbiana."3 She was buried at Columbiana Cemetery, Columbiana, Columbiana County, Ohio.3

Mary Odelia Cisler1,2

F, b. 6 September 1914, d. 8 August 2014
     Mary Odelia Cisler was born on 6 September 1914 at Lowell, Washington County, Ohio.2 She was the daughter of Robert Thomas Cisler and Minnie Louella Warren.2 Mary Odelia Cisler married Raymond Mitchell Royle, son of Frederic Samuel Royle and Mary Leola McNees, on 1 September 1933 at Canton, Stark County, Ohio.2 Mary Odelia Cisler died on 8 August 2014 at Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County, Michigan, at age 99.3 Her obituary read, "Mary was born September 6, 1914 in Lowell, Ohio, the daughter of Robert Thomas and Minnie (Warren) Cisler. She passed away, peacefully, at The Springs at Bronson Place in Kalamazoo, MI on August 8, 2014 - just one month prior to her 100th birthday. She graduated from Canton (Ohio) McKinley High School and was a member of the National Honor Society. Mary attended Ohio State University and Western Reserve University and was a member of the Ohio State University Women's Glee Club and the University Chorus. On September 1, 1933, she married Raymond M. Royle. They made their home in Akron, Ohio where Ray was employed by the Upjohn Company. After nine months in Akron, Ray was promoted to Cleveland, Ohio, where they remained for eleven years. Two sons were born in Cleveland: Robert Warren Royle, born August 26, 1937 and James Gordon Royle, born January 6, 1942. Another promotion for Ray resulted in a move to Kalamazoo in December 1945, where they remained for the remainder of their lives. Mary and Ray joined the First United Methodist Church in 1946, where Mary was a Sunday School Teacher, and Treasurer of the Annual Merchandise Mart for several years, and where both Mary and Ray were members of the Nautilus adult Sunday School class. Mary was a member of the Kalamazoo Choral Society for 25 years. She was twice a den mother and twice a room mother for her sons. While she was devoted to her home and family, she also volunteered with the American Red Cross in Service to Military Families, Blood Bank, and Disaster Relief; to Meals on Wheels; Bronson Hospital; and Women's Symphony Society, where she was Treasurer for several years. Mary enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of the American Contract Bridge League. She was also a member of the American Association of University Women. Her beloved husband, Ray, passed away on June 20, 1996. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by brothers Robert, Jacob, and Richard and sisters Anna (Waugh) and Helen Louise Cisler. She is survived by sons Robert (Abigail) Royle, Ft. Myers, FL; James (Tamara), Saginaw, MI; daughter-in-law Pamela Royle, Frisco, TX; grandsons: Jeff Royle, Orlando, FL; John (Lisa) Royle, St. Louis, MO; Timothy (Kimberly) Royle, Freeland, MI; Michael (Tonia) Royle, Traverse City, MI; granddaughters: Megan (Edward) Carrella, Gurnee, IL; and Courtney (Seth) Cummings, Frisco, TX; seven great-grandsons and one great granddaughter. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Arlene Cisler, Springfield, OH and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephew. In accord with her wishes, cremation has occurred. A Celebration of Mary's Life, conducted by Rev. Sandy Elfring, will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday August 30, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, 212 S. Park St., Kalamazoo, where friends may meet with the family beginning at 1:00 PM prior to the service. A reception in the church parlors will follow, with a private interment at Mt. Ever Rest Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or a charity of choice.
