Leighty married James Madison Coulter, son of James Coulter and Cynthia Rose, on 10 September 1867 at Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.1 Mary L. Leighty died on 12 June 1924 at Grove City, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, at age 76.1 She was buried at Woodland Cemetery, Grove City, Mercer County, Pennsylvania.2
