     Mary Colista Johnson was born on 2 August 1857 at Lockhaven, Clinton County, Pennsylvania.1 She was the daughter of William E. Johnson and Elizabeth H. Maurer.2 Mary Colista Johnson married James Riley Imel, son of James Imel and Mary M. Bailey, on 28 March 1882 at Carroll County, Illinois.1 Mary Colista Johnson died on 6 November 1939 at Chadwick, Carroll County, Illinois, at age 82.1 Her obituary read, "Mary (Johnson) Imel, passed away suddenly last night [6 Nov 1939] at 11 o'clock at her home following a heart attack. Her maiden name was Mary Johnson and she was born August 2, 1857 at Lock Haven, Clinton, Pennsylvania. The Daughter of William E & Elizabeth H(Maurer) Johnson. She came to Carroll County when a young girl, living in Mt. Carroll, where she was graduated from the high school, later teaching in the rural schools near Mt. Carroll. She was married March 28, 1882 to James Imel, who passed away January 21, 1923. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Oscar Shilling, Freeport, Mrs. Sam Shilling of Milledgeville, and five sons, Roscoe Imel of Morrison, Ward, Everett, Howard, and Edgar Imel of Chadwick. She was a member of the Christian Church of Lanark and the Ramah Chapter of the Eastern Star. Funeral arrangements have not been completed."2 She was buried at Chadwick Cemetery, Fair Haven Township, Carroll County, Illinois.2
