William Stoops

William Stoops was born on 2 January 1821 at Cherry City, Butler County, Pennsylvania.1,2 He was the son of Phillip Stoops and Elizabeth Vanderlin.3 William Stoops married first Sarah Ann Cochran in 1846 at Butler County, Pennsylvania.4,2 He was wounded 31 May 1862 at the battle of Fair Oakes in Virginia.5 William Stoops began military service on 2 September 1861 in Company H, 102nd Pennsylvania Infantry.5 He ended military service on 29 August 1862. He married second Rebecca Jane Rose, daughter of John Rose and Mary Stevenson, on 28 September 1868.6,2 William Stoops died on 26 August 1892 at Franklin Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, at age 71.7,2 He was buried at Mt. Chestnut Cemetery, Mt. Chestnut, Butler County, Pennsylvania.5
