Genevieve Trayler1

F, b. 1 January 1913, d. 25 October 2010
Genevieve Trayler was born on 1 January 1913 at Canadian, Hemphill County, Texas.2 She was the daughter of James Ravy Trayler and Edith Claire Arnold.1 Genevieve Trayler married Leslie Webb, son of Loucious Hopson Webb and Lallie Eliza Morgan, on 15 May 1932.2 Genevieve Trayler died on 25 October 2010 at Canadian, Hemphill County, Texas, at age 97.2 Her obituary read, "CANADIAN - Mrs. Genevieve Trayler WEBB, 97, died Monday, October 25, 2010, in Canadian. Inurnment will be at Webb Ranch at a later date. Arrangements are by Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian. Genevieve was born January 1, 1913, in Canadian to the late Mr. James TRAYLER and Mrs. Edith (Arnold) TRAYLER. She was a graduate of Canadian High School. She then went on to graduate from Ozark Christian Bible College in Missouri. She married Leslie WEBB on May 15, 1932. He preceded her in death on September 11, 1982. Although a homemaker most of her life, she took her responsibilities very seriously. She cooked lunch for the hired hands while raising her two children. Genevieve's greatest love was teaching the Scriptures to young married couples at First Christian Church, where she was a charter member. As time went on, however, her last teaching responsibility was to ladies her own age. She taught until she was the last one in the class. She was a member of the Eastern Star, where she held the highest rank possible, a very worthy honor. She was past president of the Parent Teachers Association and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also an active member of the Rainbow Girls and the WCTU. One of her greatest accomplishments as a volunteer was to convince a panel of all men the importance of having a beauty shop in the Edward Abraham Memorial Home. So without her strong determination, we might not have the beauty shop we know today. Genevieve held a position in the Cow Bells, and loved to play bridge (at which she was very good). When she wasn't playing bridge, she was instructing others how to play or mentoring the game. Genevieve wasn't "all work and no play." Even with her busy schedule, she still found time to travel. She has visited almost every state in the Union, including Hawaii. The expression, "idle hands are the devil's workshop" certainly did not apply to her. When she moved into the Edward Abraham Memorial Home she never stopped asking "what's going on at the church?" While living there she tried to start a bridge club among some of the residents; however, there were only one or two who knew how to play. She could never get a foursome started so she finally gave up trying, but she also enjoyed playing bingo. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Leslynn PITTS; a grandson, Derek WEBB; three sisters, Una, Opal and LaVern. She is survived by a son, Ronnie WEBB of Canadian; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren."2
