Benjamin Brice Evans1

M, b. 17 February 1842, d. 19 April 1912
     Benjamin Brice Evans was born on 17 February 1842 at Cumberland Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of David Evans and Harriet Wright.2 Benjamin Brice Evans married Sarah Clawson, daughter of James Harvey Clawson and Lydia Elizabeth Momeyer, on 4 October 1876.3 Benjamin Brice Evans died on 19 April 1912 at Brownsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, at age 70.1 His obituary said, "Brice B. Evans, a veteran of the civil war, and a well known resident of Carmichaels, died suddenly at Brownsville, Friday morning, April 19, aged 70 years, of heart failure. Mr. Evans had been employed by the government in the revenue service for a number of years and was recently located at Brownsville. He retired Thursday evening in his usual health and when he did not arise Friday morning, investigation was made and it was found he had died during the night or early morning. Mr. Evans served throughout the war as a member of the Fifteenth Pennsylvania Calvary. He was a member of the Carmichaels Presbyterian Church and was highly respected. Beside his wife, two sons survive, Raymond of Donora and Charles at home. The funeral was held from his late home in Carmichaels, Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. J. W. McPhail. Interment in Laurel Point Cemetery."4 He was buried at Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels, Greene County, Pennsylvania.4
