Born in Calhoun County, she was a daughter of the late Tom and Francis Parsons Newell. She was a former employee of the American Viscose Company of Parkersburg, was a co-operator of the family store at Orma for several years and was a member of the Kanawha Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Gary McKown of West Chester, Pa., and David McKown of Germantown, Md; two grandchildren, Cathy Perez of Denver, Colo., and James McKown of Boulder, Colo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon "Onnie" McKown in 1995; eight brothers; and one sister. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg. The Rev. Jim Yoak will officiate. Interment will be in the Orma United Methodist Church Cemetery at Orma. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the services Saturday at the funeral home."3

     Zonna Jean McKown was born on 10 April 1927 at Calhoun County, West Virginia.1 She was the daughter of Everett Gailey McKown and Jetta Hoskins.2 Zonna Jean McKown married William Arnold Stalnaker, son of Eucal William Stalnaker and Thelma Arnold.1 Zonna Jean McKown died on 11 April 2016 at Annamoriah, Calhoun County, West Virginia, at age 89.1 She Her obituary read, "Jean Stalnaker, 89, of Annamoriah, WV was called home April 11, 2016 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 10, 1927, the daughter of the late Gailey and Jettie Hoskins McKown of Arnoldsburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, William A. Stalnaker, Sr. and one grandson, Eric Joseph Romage. Survivors include two sons, William A. Stalnaker, Jr. (Becky) of Elizabeth WV and Robert Neal Stalnaker (Georgia) of Annamoriah; four daughters, Sharon Gherke (Bill) of Grantsville WV, Beth Alltop (Hugh) of Annamoriah, Connie Roberts (Rodney) of Mineral Wells WV, and Melissa Layhew (Todd) of Ripley WV. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; 2 brothers, Dick and Bernard McKown, and one sister, Irene McKown Hildreth. Funeral services will be held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, on Friday, April 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ronzel Roberts officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. Interment will be in Minnora Cemetery."1 She was buried at Minnora Cemetery, Washington Township, Calhoun County, West Virginia.1

Stalnaker, Sr., 80, of Annamoriah, West Virginia, passed away Friday, September 28, 2007 at Minnie Hamilton Health System, Grantsville. He was the son of the late Eucal and Thelma Arnold Stalnaker. He was retired from Cabot Gas, and Stalnaker Grocery. He was a WWII veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean McKown Stalnaker
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Edwin Stalnaker. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, September 30 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Rev. C.W. McDonald will officiate. Interment will be in the Minnora Cemetery."1 He was buried at Minnora Cemetery, Washington Township, Calhoun County, West Virginia.1
