Leon Spencer was the son of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Spencer of Ocheyedan, Iowa, and was born on a farm near the town of Melvin in the year of 1889. He came to Sioux Falls in 1906 and worked for the Rock Island for a short time. Later he worked for the Milwaukee, changing his employment for work with the Farley, Denton Co. Besides his father and mother, he leaves four brothers, Winfield O., Clarence R., Russell L. and Melvin J., and five sisters, Laura R., Corintha M., Esther L. and Loretta A."2 He was buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Sioux Falls, Minnehaha County, South Dakota.2

Spencer was buried this afternoon by the side of her daughter and husband in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Rev. H. P. Eberhart of the East Side M.E. Church officiating. Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Spencer returned to Ocheyedan Monday after being in Sioux Falls for a week. They have the sympathy of the people of this community, for surely they bear a heavy burden of sorrow."2 She was buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Sioux Falls, Minnehaha County, South Dakota.2
