He was the son of Gilbert de Clare Earl of Gloucester and Isabel Marshall. Richard de Clare married Maude de Lacy, daughter of John de Lacie Earl of Lincoln and Margaret de Quincey, between 26 January 1237 and 1238 at Lincolnshire, England. He was born on 21 July 1248 at Tunbridge, Kent, England. He was the son of Richard de Clare and Maude de Lacy. Boso de Clare died in October 1294 at age 46.
