     Robert C. Martin was born on 26 February 1929 at Athens, Athens County, Ohio.1 He was the son of Charles C. Martin and Thelma Faye McNutt.1 Robert C. Martin married Mona u.1 Robert C. Martin died on 10 March 2012 at Kobacker House, Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio, at age 83.1 His obiturary read, "Robert C. (Bob) Martin, age 83, of Hockingport, was called home early Saturday morning, March 10, 2012 at Kobacker House, a hospice facility in Columbus. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Born, February 26, 1929 in Athens, he was the son of the late Charles Martin and Thelma McNutt Martin. A 1947 graduate of Athens High School, Bob served in the Korean War. He was a lifetime resident of the Athens area, and for nearly fifty years, he was the owner of Martin Builders, a successful custom home building company. He designed and built numerous homes and landmark buildings in the Athens area. A faithful member of Christ’s Church, Bob also belonged to the Gideon’s and the American Legion KT Crossen Post 21. He was also a charter member of the Athens Boat and Ski Club. Bob enjoyed time with his family, boating, water skiing, barefoot skiing, kite flying, riding Harleys and exercising. Bob is survived by his wife, Marilyn Staten Martin; a daughter Connie (Roger) Watson, of Athens; a daughter, Judy Martin, of Athens; a daughter, Joy (Dennis) Kelley, of Loudon, TN; a daughter, Pam Bryan, of Chauncey; a daughter, Stephanie (Jeff) Wood, of Athens; seven grandchildren: Whitney Watson, of New York City; Dr. Lindsay Watson, of Massillon, OH; Zaccory Martin, of Athens; Kaylor Kelley, of Loudon, Tenn; and Tanner, Madison and Wyatt Wood, of Athens. He is also survived by a half-brother, Jerry Martin, of Sebring, Fla., and half-sisters Rita Reedy, of Lancaster, OH and Ann Hoffman, of Amanda, OH. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Arthur and Nellie McNutt, and his first wife, Mona Martin. Funeral service will be conducted Tuesday, March 13 at 11 a.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home in Athens with his son-in-law, Roger Watson, officiating. Burial will be at the West Union Street Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, March 12 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. KT Crossen Post 21 will conduct Military Rites at the cemetery."1 He was buried at West Union Street Cemetery (also called Athens Cemetery), Athens, Athens County, Ohio.1
