Luna Teegarden1

     Luna Teegarden was born on 8 March 1894 at Polo, Ray County, Missouri.1 She was the daughter of David William Teegarden and Atchafalya "Lala" Munroe Davis.1 Luna Teegarden married William Harlan Weller, son of William Joseph Weller and Marietta Jane Gaskill, on 19 June 1918 at Trinidad, Las Animas County, Colorado.1 Luna Teegarden died on 17 July 1998 at Denver, Denver County, Colorado, at age 104.1 Her obituary read, "Luna (Teegarden) Weller passed away July 17, 1998 at Cherry Hills Care Center in Englewood, Colorado.
She was born March 8, 1894 near Polo, Ray County, Missouri. She was 104 at the time of her death. Luna was the oldest child of William D. and Atchafalya Davis Teegarden. She moved with the family to Trinidad, Colorado in the early 1900's and attended schools in Trinidad, graduating from Trinidad High School in 1914. She obtained a teaching certificate and taught school at the Lopez Ranch near Trinchera, Colorado and at Hastings, Colorado. On June 19, 1918 she was married to William Harlan Weller, also a teacher from Wray, Colorado at her parents home in Trinidad. She accompanied her husband through teaching positions in several Colorado towns until they located in Denver in 1943. He passed away in 1953. Many of her family-raising years were spent on the family farm south of Wray, Colorado and in Wray. Luna was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church wherever she lived and was especially active in the church in Wray. Upon moving to Denver she became, and was at the time of her death, a member of Central Christian Church.
She is survived by three children, William D. Weller of Lakewood, Colorado, Maxine Ashton of Wheat Ridge, Colorado and Richard E. Weller of Englewood, Colorado; and one brother, Forrest E. Teegarden of Tucson, Arizona. Her only sister, Viola Russell, formerly of Stonewall, Colorado and one brother, Donovan L. Teegarden, formerly of Houston, Texas preceded her in death. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She will be buried next to her husband in Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colorado."2
