John Edward Sheely Sr.1

     John Edward Sheely Sr. was born on 9 April 1939 at Petersburg, Mahoning County, Ohio.1 He was the son of John Edgar Sheely and Dorothy Elizabeth Baun.2,3,1 John Edward Sheely Sr. died on 25 October 2008 at age 69.1 His obituary read, "John "Joe" Edward Sheely, Sr., 69, was born April 9, 1939 in Petersburg, Pa, a son of John Edgar and Dorothy Elizabeth Baun Sheely. He worked at Mahoning Valley Supply, with twenty-two years of service. John also was the Owner and Operator of Sheely's Tire Service, retiring in 2004. John loved the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a former member of the Market Street Baptist Church where he was saved and Baptized. He then continued to serve the Lord at Solid Rock Community Church in Salem, where he served as Deacon, Usher and Trustee, until the Lord called him home Tuesday morning, November 25. He enjoyed fishing and bowling and was a member of the Silver Sneakers Club at the YMCA, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, the former Alberta Boyer, whom he married July 19, 1958 and with whom he renewed his vows in 2008 in St. James Chapel in Boardman Park. John also is survived by four sons, John (Penny) Sheely, Jr. of Struthers, Joseph (Sue) Sheely of Salem, Bert (Julia) Sheely of Laughlin, NV and Kenneth (Deborah) Sheely of Petersburg; two daughters, Theresa (Robert) Elias of Poland and Rose (John) Lyda of Petersburg; a brother, Gary (Joanie) Sheely of New York; three sisters, Florence Diamond, Billie (Marv) James of North Lima and Mary (Darrell) Carothers of Buffalo, NY; twenty-six grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Harvey; infant sister Dorothy Sheely and two grandchildren, Joey and Johnny. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Salem Bible Church
