Isabel Bilton

     Isabel Bilton MP from Burley, Rutland, 1397 In the 2nd Parliament of 1397 his father was posthumously impeached for his complicity with Thomas of Woodstock, Duke of Gloucester and the other Lords Appellant. In April 1398 he was summoned to appear in person before the King and Council at Westminster for interrogation. As a result of the sentence posthumously imposed on his father, his estates were forfeited 18 March 1399. However, the overthrow of King Richard II and the accession of King Henry IV saw his estates restored to him. Soon after, he began to suffer intermittent periods of insanity and on the suggestion of his wife a group of custodians was appointed by royal commission to take charge of both his person and his estates (April 1401). By August 1404 he was sufficiently recovered and was declared sane after an examinatino by the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster. She died in 1411.
